In only his fourth NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle race, third generation racer and former PDRA standout Brayden Davis made history at the illustrious U.S. Nationals by marching to the final on a rented Vance & Hines Hayabusa.
In the final Pro Stock Motorcycle’s Gaige Herrera was again clutch when it counted, using an incredible .003 reaction time to defeat teammate Davis on a holeshot. Herrera’s 6.834 at 199.32 on his RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines held up thanks to the stellar reaction time, holding off Davis’ 6.799 at 198.93 at the finish line.
Davis said, “This weekend at the NHRA U.S. Nationals was one of the hardest I’ve had mentally. I’ll be real with y’all — I struggled. I couldn’t find my rhythm early on, kept double clutching, and was fighting myself more than anything. If you would’ve asked me yesterday if I thought I’d be in the final round of The Big Go, I would’ve laughed. I didn’t believe it was in the cards.

But something clicked. I reset, dug deep, and just focused on doing what I had to do — one round at a time. We qualified #3 with a 6.75 at 200 mph and kept pushing through the toughest field of the year.

Made it all the way to the final round, and honestly… that hurts to even write. I ran a 6.79 to my teammate Gaige Herrera’s 6.83 — but he was .003 on the tree, I was .043, and that was the difference. Five thousandths at the stripe. That close.
Losing on a holeshot in the final of Indy is tough. But I’m proud. Proud of how I bounced back. Proud of the fight. Proud to race alongside Gaige and this whole Vance & Hines team.

This sport humbles you. But it also shows you what you’re made of.
Thank you to Vance & Hines, Powertrain Inc, and most of all — my parents. None of this happens without you.
We came up just short this time… but we’re not done.”
