In this video we discuss what appears to be a rapid decline in NHRA Drag Racing Live attendance, particularly at the series’ biggest race of the year, the NHRA US Nationals. We talk about the reasons for the overall decline in NHRA drag racing attendance and TV viewership which includes an aging fan base in drag racing and motorsports, the loss of the biggest star in drag racing John Force, the shortening of the track to 1,000 feet, the loss and exit of major corporate sponsors including Coca-cola in 2020 and others.
We also discuss the major tension between the NHRA and some team owners over high NHRA executive salaries and not enough giving back to the teams. We talk about how Tony Stewart has done a great job filling in for John Force but has a tough job trying to replace the organizations biggest star. Finally we talk about potential ways NHRA could try to bring down cost and make the sport more appealing to younger demographic. Lets us know your thoughts on how to reverse this trend
