SpaceXAI is suing a contractor that claims the company owes nearly $570 million for unpaid work performed at its facilities in Memphis and DeSoto County.
SpaceXAI filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday, Aug. 4, against Ohio-based Darana Hybrid, Inc.
Darana Hybrid has filed multiple liens alleging that SpaceXAI owes millions of dollars for work performed at Colossus I and Colossus II in Memphis and several facilities in DeSoto County, including its power plant on Stanton Road.

Darana Hybrid claims SpaceXAI owes a total of $569,348,213.76.
In its complaint, however, SpaceXAI alleges that Darana Hybrid overbilled the company by hundreds of millions of dollars while “selling out their own suppliers and subcontractors along the way.”
SpaceXAI also alleges that Darana Hybrid breached its contract and diverted funds to side projects involving company owner Darryl Cuttell, including an interest in hot rod racing.

According to the lawsuit, SpaceXAI terminated its contract with Darana Hybrid after discovering what it described as Cuttell’s “rampant overcharging.” SpaceXAI further alleges that Darana Hybrid subsequently withheld payments owed to subcontractors and suppliers.
