Turbocharged motorcycles have ruled XDA Pro Street racing for years. But after this past weekend’s XDA Bike Fest at Maryland International Raceway, are the winds of change finally blowing?

Two-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Gaige Herrera turned heads by shattering the XDA Pro Street record aboard a nitrous-powered motorcycle, blasting to an incredible 6.22-second pass. Even more impressive was his consistency on race day, ripping off runs of 6.22, 6.22, 6.27, and 6.26 after qualifying with a 6.23.
The performance raises a compelling question: Has nitrous become the combination to beat in XDA Pro Street? If Herrera’s record-setting weekend is any indication, the long-standing reign of the turbo bikes may finally have a serious challenger.
Will we see rule changes? Another chapter in the longstanding nitrous vs turbo rivalry is about to be written.
