Mecum Auctions hosted its 35th annual motorcycle auction at South Point Hotel & Casino Jan. 27-31. What is typically a four-day event became a five-day auction this year, as a high consignment rate led to over 1,800 motorcycles crossing the block. The five-day auction saw total sales of more than $20 million with a 92% sell-through rate, including at least eight record-breaking bikes. The event also marked the first time the Las Vegas motorcycle auction was streamed live on a platform other than YouTube, with the real-time commentary making its debut on Mecum TV on Roku.
The top sale of the five-day Vegas auction was a rare 2004 Honda RC174 George Beale Replica that drew significant attention and sold for a final price of $330,000. Rivaling the top seller with a record-breaking $313,500 sale was a 1968 Honda CB750 Prototype, which was followed by several other standout results, including a 1938 Vincent HRD Series A Rapide selling for $236,500 and a beautifully preserved 1924 BMW R32, which brought in $209,000.
Top sellers weren’t the only motorcycles to make headlines in Vegas. Several offerings across a range of eras and styles achieved record-breaking results. A historically significant 1934 Harley-Davidson CAC set a new auction benchmark at $203,500, while a classic 1935 Indian Chief set a new record at $187,000. A standout 1901 E.R. Thomas Auto-Bi celebrated early motorcycle history selling for $159,500, while more modern performance machines also made their mark, including a 1994 Harley-Davidson VR1000 that set an auction record at $93,500. Together, these sales underscored the broad diversity and strength of the collector motorcycle market at this year’s Las Vegas auction.
