Top Fuel Motorcycles Return to Chicago, May 19 – 21

The NHRA Camping World Drag Racing Series returns to Chicago in just a few short weeks for the Gerber Collision and Glass Route 66 NHRA Nationals presented by PEAK Performance! You won’t want to miss NITRO racing May 19-21 at Route 66 Raceway as Top Fuel Motorcycles make their way back to the “Windy City” for the first time in nearly 25 years as legend Larry “Spiderman” McBride will battle the fast “Yellow Bullet” Dave Vantine in front of what is expected to be a huge crowd.  

 

“The off-season has been too long. We are beyond excited to get back to the track,” said McBride, who set a new Top Fuel Motorcycle speed record at 268 ph last year at the NHRA Virginia Nationals. “It’s exciting to go back to Chicago.”

McBride last ran legendary Route 66 with AMA Prostar. Chicago is teh home of one of McBride’s longtime sponsors Trim-Tex Drywall Products and major Top Fuel Bike supporter Joe Koenig. 

 

For Vantine it will mark his first trip to Chicago as a Top Fuel Motorcycle racer. 

“We can’t wait,” Vantine said. “Its really special for us to get out in front of teh big NHRA crowd.”

With a personal best of 5.71, Vantine ranks as the second quickest active motorcycle drag racer and has the 5.60-zone in his sights. 

The Pro Stock All-Star Callout will take place on Saturday, giving top Pro Stock stars a chance at an All-Star purse in this all-new specialty race. The #2Fast2Tasty Mission NHRA Challenge will run in Top Fuel, Funny Car, and Pro Stock Motorcycle classes on Saturday leading into eliminations on Sunday. 

 

Friday through Sunday you’ll see the PEAK Street Car Shootout, this exhibition will showcase some of the quickest street cars in the world including Tom Bailey in Six Seconds 2.0, Alex Morgan in her BADMARO, Steve Morris in his Boostmaster and Bryant Goldstone’s AMC Javelin.
