Team Liberty Racing’s Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey Focusing on One Round at a Time Heading into Chicago

On the horizon of the second half of the season, it would be easy to look too far ahead of oneself and let it hinder a race weekend’s performance but not Team Liberty Racing’s Cory Reed and Angelle Sampey. In their sixth of 16 events on the Pro Stock Motorcycle schedule, Reed and Sampey make their way to Route 66 Raceway in Joliet, Illinois for the 20th annual Children of Fallen Patriots NHRA Route 66 Nationals presented by K&N and the focus is one round at a time for the duo.

“I’m looking forward to going to Route 66 Raceway this weekend because we tried some new stuff in Norwalk and it looks like it might pay off in the long run,” 2016’s Rookie of the Year Reed said. “We’ve had two weeks off since Norwalk and our time has been focused on getting enough motors ready for Chicago and then the western swing. We should have seven motors for the two of us by the time we head out to Denver.”

Three-time NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle World Champion Sampey has clear goals for this weekend in Chicago.

“Chicago’s goal is to qualify higher than we did in Norwalk so we can get better pairings first round,” Sampey said. “We’re moving in the right direction with our horsepower and that makes me look forward to racing in Chicago this weekend. At this point, I’m not focused on winning this race even though I’ve had great success there in the past; I don’t want to look too far ahead of myself right now. I don’t want to look to the fourth round, I want to look at the first round and then take it from there every single round. If I approach it like that, the wins will come.”
