Motorcycles often outran cars in the 1950s and early 1960s. Here is Walt Ross on the drag strip at Fremont, Calif. in 1965. He was in his 60s at the time of this photo. Note the safety equipment a rider wore back then versus today. Ross held many speed records at the Bonneville Salt Flats too.
