It was clear early on that Chase Van Sant was destined to do great things in the sport of motorcycle drag racing.

Van Sant, the former standout jr. dragster driver, NCAA sprinter and son of successful AMA / Prostar racer and Trick Tools owner Bruce Van Sant, impressed many with how quickly he emerged as one of the top 4.60 racers in the world.

It was clear Van Sant has the competitive edge and discipline to quickly adapt and improve. Van Sant won many races on one of the oldest bikes in the 4.60 class, his father’s unmistakable, yellow former Pro Mod bike.

It was a fitting homage as Bruce expressed how he needed to take a step back from racing in the late 90s to concentrate on making his Trick Tools business a success so he could afford an opportunity like this later in life.

That mission has been accomplished and now it’s time for the father-son team to enjoy the fruits of their labor by entering the top echelon of the sport.

With the retirement of Karen Stoffer and Jerry Savoie taking a step back from the NHRA tour, an opportunity opened up for Van Sant on the White Alligator team, tuned by Tim Kulungian. Van Sant had been testing and shadowing with the WAR team at select events last year.

At the pre-season test session at Gainesville Raceway, February 2nd, Van Sant again impressed many with his ability to quickly adapt to Jerry Savoie’s Suzuki TL1000. If Van Sant takes to Pro Stock Motorcycle as quickly as he took to 4.60, he could be an immediate championship contender.

Team will also have plenty of data as Van Sant will be joined on the WAR squad by journeyman John Hall this season.

In this interview Van Sant shares his hopes and goals for his rookie season in Pro Stock Motorcycle.
