For about 15 years PDRA has been home to the Pro Extreme Motorcycle class, which evolved from Pro Nitrous and what was formerly known as Pro Mod.
As of late the class has been at odds over turbo vs. nitrous parity and that is one reason no competitors showed up to the season-opening PDRA race Virginia Motorsports Park.

In response PDRA issues the following statement –
“After a lack of interest in the category at its first scheduled event on tour, the PDRA Series will be moving forward without the Pro Extreme Motorcycle category, effective immediately. With no entries attending the PDRA Mid-Atlantic Showdown, the interest level from the competitors was not there to move forward for the 2025 season. We want to thank Drag965 for their support over the years of the class and all of the competitors who did compete and win championships throughout the class’s tenure at the PDRA series and we wish you the best of luck competing in other series like the XDA moving forward.”
It’s an unfortunate blow to a sport that has seen a lot of decline in the past few seasons.
The good news for competitors is they will be accepted into XDA’s Pro Extreme class. Some nitrous racers have rejected the idea, not wanting to compete against turbos.

Defending class champion and turbo users Team Grothus supplied the following charts to argue parity is not that bad between the two power-adders.
It’s another chapter in the longstanding turbo vs. nitrous debate in drag racing. The downfall for drag bike racing is the sport is running out of enough entries to field a class.
Here’s hoping Pro Mod finds a way to survive.
