Norris and Eddinger Prevail at MIROCK Opener

Dave Norris of Bryans Road, Maryland, and Dimey Eddinger of Winston Salem won the top two Pro categories Sunday at Rockingham Dragway during the Velocity Racing Spring Bike Open. This was the first race of seven events in the Mickey Thompson Tires MIRock Super Bike Series.

Norris, the number two qualifier in the top Schnitz Racing Outlaw Pro Street class, upset number one qualifier Ralph Medrano of Miami, Fla., in the final round. Norris ran an elapsed time of 7.127 seconds at 188.46 miles per hour over Medrano’s 7.219, 194.10. Medrano, who also set low time of the Outlaw bikes with his qualifying time of 7.099, set top speed of the event in his losing effort to chase down Norris.

Eddinger defeated Shaun Roles in the final, 8.034, 187.39 mph to a 8.354, 182.28.

Eddinger set low elapsed time of the event on his march to the final, turning a 7.739 time in his semi-final round over Anthony Steward of Worthampton, Va., in the quickest side-by-side race for the Orient Express Pro Sport Bike class. Steward turned a 7.822 time in his losing effort.
Steward earlier had upset low qualifier and defending champion Anthony Navarro of Royersford, Pa., in the second round.

The Wake Forest husband- and- wife team of Ronnie and Robin Procopio met in the final round of the Honda-Suzuki of Sanford Pro Comp class with Robin taking home the winners check. Robin ran a slower time than Ronnie, but her quick starting line reaction got her to the finish line first, 5.642, to a losing 5.636. Her margin of victory was a scant .0033 seconds.

The Pro Comp class is contested on the eighth mile while all other classes in the Mickey Thompson Series are run on the quarter mile.

The two-day Nitrous Express Pro ET competition was won by Darrell Mahoney of Waldorf, Maryland, over Robin Procopio on Saturday and by Shane Proctor of Indianhead, Maryland, on Sunday over Mahoney.

Procopio and Mahoney tied for the Nitrous Express $500 bonus paid to the Pro ET rider winning the most rounds over the two days.

The FBR Shop Quick 32 was won by Mac McAdams of Edgewater, Maryland, over Ronnie Procopio.

Saturday’s Dragbikeforum.com Street ET was won by Boo Brown, Potomac Falls, Va., over Matt Davies of Richmond, Va., and Sunday Clay Davies of Petersburg, Va won with Proctor the runner-up.

The Mickey Thompson MIROCK Super Bike Series next event will be held at Maryland International Dragway, Budds Creek.
