The illustrious NHRA U.S. Nationals is an incredibly special race, especially for Mickey Thompson Nitro Harley racers who conclude their season there. Like last season, the championship battle is a two horse race between multi-time champion Doug Vancil of Team Vance & Hines and defending champion Tii Tharpe of team Spevco and Samson Exhaust. Last season Tharpe entered trailing Vancil by 18 points, this year he leads the title tilt by 27.

It was great to see Mike Scott and Beau Layne back at the track. Layne is recovering from his devastating crash and Scott is back from what was a short lived retirement.
