2023 will be opened in spectacular fashion for fans of all things drag racing, with the New Year Nitro event at Willowbank Raceway set to deliver no shortage of flame-throwing, nitro-burning action across January 6 and 7.
All eyes will be on Top Fuel Motorcycle superstar Chris Matheson as he hunts down a five-second run.
The Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship will headline the program, bringing six ground-shaking, 11,000+ hp Top Fuel Dragsters to light up Willowbank Raceway.
Joining them on-track to ensure the racing schedule is packed wall-to-wall with high quality action will be the Australian Drag Racing Championship (ADRC) Top Doorslammers, Top Fuel Motorcycles, Pro Stock and Pro Mod, as well as the country’s fastest sportsman racers.
And that’s not all, with a huge firework spectacular, show and shine, food trucks and more rounding out the mammoth line-up for the two-day/two-night event.
“Bringing Top Fuel back to Willowbank Raceway is something we are really excited about, and I know all of our competitors are looking forward to putting on a show for the Queensland fans,” Burson Auto Parts Australian Top Fuel Championship and ADRC promoter, Andy Lopez, said.
“Willowbank Raceway is Queensland’s premier drag racing facility and has played host to some amazing performances in the past, and I am sure that between Top Fuel, Top Doorslammer, Top Fuel Motorcycle, Pro Stock and Pro Mod, there will be plenty to come across January 6 and 7.
“With all of these great categories plus Australia’s fastest sportsman racers, fireworks, food trucks, a show ‘n’ shine, and more, New Year Nitro is going to be THE way to celebrate the New Year in Queensland in 2023!”
The New Year Nitro event at Willowbank Raceway (January 6 and 7) will be followed soon after by the Top Fuel Slam at Sydney Dragway across Australia Day weekend, January 27 and 28.
Both events will see the fastest drag racing vehicles in the country on track over two massive days and nights with vital championship points on the line as drivers continue their battle for the biggest prize in drag racing – the Stan Sainty Cup.
Top Fuel headlines both events, with the massive New Year Nitro line up to also include ADRC Top Doorslammer, Top Fuel Motorcycle, Pro Mod and Pro Stock, as well as Sportsman categories. Joining the on-track action is a huge firework spectacular, show and shine, food trucks, and more.
