Mickey Thompson to Back Pro Bike Battle All-Star Race

Mickey Thompson Tires has been named the official sponsor of the Pro Bike Battle event held at Sonoma Raceway, NHRA officials announced today. The multi-year agreement will feature the top motorcycle competitors in the country battling for a lucrative purse. 

 

The Mickey Thompson Tires Pro Bike Battle will take place June 29th during the Toyota NHRA Sonoma Nationals with the eight best riders in the two wheel category. Riders earn points into the specialty event based upon points awarded for final qualifying positions at each Pro Stock Motorcycle event.

“The Mickey Thompson Tires Pro Bike Battle is one of the most anticipated specialty events during the season,” said Brad Gerber, NHRA vice president and chief development officer. “The racers in the Pro Stock Motorcycle category appreciate the support of Mickey Thompson Tires and their contribution to the sport.”  





 

For 2017, the winner will take home $10,000 and in 2018 and 2019 the winner will receive $25,000, $10,000 for the runner-up, two semifinalist will receive $6,000, and the quarter final finishers will get $3,500 for a total purse of $61,000. Starting at the event in Sonoma the low qualifier at each event will receive $1,000 for a No. 1 qualifying position.

Sonoma Raceway has hosted record-breaking NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle runs since 2002 and the race-within-a-race allows the riders to earn ultimate bragging rights in the category. Andrew Hines is the defending event winner.
