2012 Screamin’ Eagle Championship Series Information

Happy New Year to all! The 2012 AHDRA Screamin’ Eagle Championship Series Schedule has been released. We have firmed up most everything that impacts our 2012 racing season. We have done some reorganizing which was necessary to adjust our position properly in the present and predicted economic environment. These are events where we have been historically well supported and attended. These are some of the best racetracks in the country and afford us the best facilities, track prep, safety and staff to successfully conduct our races. Ten nationwide 2012 AHDRA Championship Races will begin in April with the Florida Nitro Nationals in Gainesville, Florida and run through October with the Cajun Nitro Nationals in Belle Rose, Louisiana.

Our Contingency Program for 2012 is well under way. We are also vigorously working on Presenting Sponsors as well as Class Sponsors.  Being a Presenting Sponsor of a race or sponsoring a class gives you incredible exposure everywhere.  Whenever that class is spoken about, especially at the track when the announcer is calling classes to the staging lanes- well, think about it…it is fantastic exposure.

We are pleased to announce that Gainesville Harley Davidson will be the Presenting Sponsor for the Florida Nitro Nationals, The Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association will be the Presenting Sponsor for the Carolina Spring Nitro Nationals as well as the Jim McClure Nitro Nationals, Vreeland’s Harley-Davidson will continue to be the Presenting Sponsor of the Liberty Nitro Nationals and Ohio Bike Week will be the Presenting Sponsor for the Ohio Bike Week Nationals.  More great news to be announced shortly, so stay tuned!

This is a tough season for sponsorship. Several of our supporters have been hit hard during these economic times and won’t be able to sponsor the races while they keep things going on the home front. Without exception, every one of those folks expressed their desire to continue their support in the future, and we will welcome them back anytime. They along with others have been great supporters and we look forward to them coming back.

SPEED Magazine will continue to be in an online format, as well as hard copy.  As we continue to build on our subscription base, we will continue to offer dirt-cheap advertising rates and availability to thousands of new readers.  With our website receiving millions of hits per month and thousands of visitors per day, we will be able to quantify the true readership and value of advertising in SPEED.  A full-page ad will be $100, ½ page $50 and a ¼ page will be $25 for 2012.  There will be four issues published in 2012: January/February/March, April/May/June, July/August/September and October/November/December.

AHDRA competitors are spending money and rebuilding old and new bikes in anticipation of the 2012 racing season.  They are looking forward to opening day on April 21st and 22nd for the Screamin’ Eagle Performance Parts Florida Nitro Nationals.

About the AHDRA:  In 2012, AHDRA will be celebrating their 35th Anniversary of drag racing.  With sixteen classes – ranging from 233mph Top Fuel Nitro methane class to the highly competitive sportsman gas classes – competitors have a wide range of choices in AHDRA competition. What started out as a club racing organization in the late seventies has now grown into a national racing sanction that host hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators at state-of-the-art facilities across the United States.  This extreme sport is unique in motorsports today, giving fans direct access to the competition.  Each event ticket is a “pit pass” that allows fans to circulate the pits, meet the race teams, and get an up-close look at their high-powered machines.

We have an exciting year of racing coming up and we believe we have positioned ourselves for the best for all concerned. This is a year to pull together. Splinter groups and negativity will not be tolerated. We intend to have fun, work hard and maintain the integrity of this organization. As always, but even more important now, it takes all of us to make this work.
