With every twist of the throttle on his motorcycle, Craig Adams shows what he is made of.

He is tough, he is tenacious and he is talented.

Over the years, he discovered that he has to be, in order to win among the extreme and exceptional competition in Wiseco/CycleTech Super Bike at Summit Motorsports Park.

His passion propelled him to eight championships in the category before he set out for a ninth in 2023, and he was more determined than ever to get it done.

There were many reasons for that, but the main reason was that he came very close to claiming the top spot in 2022 before finishing in the fourth spot.

While he knows that finishing in the fourth spot is still worth celebrating, it was not the goal that he set for himself, and that was hard for him to take. So hard, in fact, that he did not attend the Edelbrock Banquet of Champions presented by Lincoln Electric for the 2022 season, and his friend and fellow rider, Matt Short, picked up his fourth-place trophy for him.

Sadly, the still-frustrated Craig tossed the trophy out of the front door of his home. It hit a tree, broke and sat there for months, despite Craig’s wife, Jill, lovingly suggesting it was time to pick it up.

Craig considered it motivation to accomplish his goal of cementing a championship in 2023. Every time he left home, he saw it. Every time he came home, he saw it. To him, it was a constant reminder that he didn’t do what he had set out to do.

When he struggled for the first several races in 2023, his friend Gary Godwin told him to keep swinging for the fence, so he did, until he locked up the 2023 Wiseco/CycleTech Super Bike championship.

The next day, he picked up the trophy he had had thrown a year prior and thought about what it took to get where he is, with help from his family and friends, including his father, Bill, his wife, Jill, Gary Godwin, Tom LaPointe, Matt Short and Hailey Short.

Then, he took a deep breath, and smiled.

Craig’s fellow racers, family and friends recognized and celebrated Craig’s commitment at the 50th Annual Edelbrock Banquet of Champions presented by Lincoln Electric on Jan. 28, 2024 at Sawmill Creek Resort in Huron, Ohio.
