Arana Surges to a 101 Point Lead

Reigning Pro Stock Motorcycle champion Hector Arana raced to his third final-round appearances of the 2010 season to pad his lead in the Full Throttle standings to 101 points with five of 17 races completed.

“The points are adding up in our favor but I’m looking for the win,” Arana said after dismounting his Lucas Oil Buell V-Twin. “I need to start my Wally collection for this year. Maybe I got a little spoiled last year but you get to where you want those things.

“I can’t complain. My kids, Hector and Adam, they did a helluva job, especially in this heat. We did good and I’ve got a lot to be happy for.”

After two six-second passes in wins over Wesley Wells and Craig Treble, Arana slowed in his last two passes, which were both clocked in 7.04 seconds.

“In third and fourth gear against (winner Drew) Hines the bike laid down for some reason,” Arana said. “There’s something wrong. I can’t put my finger in there yet but we’ll get it fixed before the next race.”

Arana next races June 4-6 at Route 66 Raceway near Chicago.
