Fans are getting ready for Countdown to the Championship drag racing like they’ve never seen before as the first-ever NHRA 4-Wide Carolina Nationals roars to life Sept. 19–21 at zMAX Dragway. For the first time in NHRA history, four-wide racing will headline the Countdown to the Championship playoffs, raising the stakes, speed and excitement to a whole new level.
Traditionally a spring spectacle, the legendary four-wide format will hit the Bellagio of drag strips next month with added playoff intensity. Fans can expect side-by-side-by-side-by-side action as the fastest drivers in the world battle for championship glory—quadrupling the adrenaline and quadrupling the fun.
No stranger to making history, zMAX Dragway was the site of the 1,000th Top Fuel race in NHRA history early this year, where Shawn Langdon captured the win, outpacing top names like NASCAR Hall of Famer Tony Stewart, 2020 NHRA Rookie of the Year Justin Ashley and reigning world champion Antron Brown in the final quad. That milestone moment added yet another chapter to zMAX Dragways’ one-of-a-kind drag racing legacy. This fall, a new story is waiting to be written.

Alongside Langdon, spring NHRA 4-Wide Nationals winners Austin Prock (Funny Car), Dallas Glenn (Pro Stock) and Matt Smith (Pro Stock Motorcycle) all claimed the coveted Wally trophy—and now they return with eyes on adding their names to zMAX Dragway’s history books once again and solidifying themselves and championship favorites. Could they pull off the ultimate feat and sweep Charlotte in this landmark season?
The 2025 NHRA 4-Wide Carolina Nationals promises edge-of-your-seat racing, where every round counts in the fight for the championship. Fans won’t want to miss the chance to witness history in the making at zMAX
