Semi-final and final rounds in the Quick 32 Sportsman Series of Top Dragsters and Top Sportsman, along with the final Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS) race, were cut short this past weekend at Empire Dragway.
In the Pro Mod Powerfest final, Mike Stawicki of NY defeated Ontario’s Jay Santos. Stawicki earlier defeated NY’s Bob Bauer in his semi-final while Santos eliminated Melanie Salemi, also from NY, to advance to the finals.
Johnny Camp was the number one qualifier in Pro Modified with a 3.6049-second, 206.04-mph pass in qualifying.
There were complete fields of teams in the Top Dragster, Top Sportsman, Pro Bike, Pro Sled, and Pro Sled divisions.
Rich Yacos from Cambria, NY, with his 540 CID Chevy / ProCharger Supercharged 2018 Mike Bos dragster, was set to run against Vince Musolino from Bridgeport, NY, in the Top Dragster final in his 540 CID 2022 Race Tech dragster.
In the Top Sportsman scheduled final for Top Sportsman, Brian Werner’s 632 CID 1968 Chevrolet from Hubbard, OH, was expected to race Matt Gregoire from Blasdell, NY, and his 540 CID 1966 Chevrolet Chevy II.
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series race format pits the Top Dragster against the Top Sportsman car in a final run-off to determine the overall winner. There are two sets of eliminations, one for each class, and the winning Top Dragster entry faces off with the winning Top Sportsman entry to determine the overall event champion.
In the quarter-final round, Rich Yacos defeated Tyler Rudolph, and Vince Musolino beat Lucas Salemi to advance to the Top Dragster run-off.
Matt Gregoire defeated Luke DeJonge in the Top Sportsman quarter-finals, and Brian Werner defeated Bill Stevens to advance.
Flyin’ Ryan Harris from Burford, Ontario, was the number one qualifier in Top Dragster, and Jon Schmid was the number one in Top Sportsman.
In the PBSS final round run-off, Jim Bernier of Stratford, ON with his 1755 CC 2012 Suzuki GS was scheduled to race Peter Edward’s 1441 CC 2011 Suzuki Hayabusa from Livonia, NY, in the final.
Jim Bernier defeated Kevin Sutliffe in the semi-finals, and Peter Edwards beat Bob Salerno’s Pro Sled to advance to the finals.
Jim Bernier was the number one qualifier in the Pro Bike & Sled Series.
The next event for the Quick 32 Sportsman Series and Pro Bike & Sled Series will be the weekend of August 15 – 16 at Empire Dragway in Leicester, NY.
Brian Werner leads the Quick 32 Sportsman Series Championship Point Award Series with 546 points, followed by Tyler Rudolph in second with 513 points, Rich Yacos in third with 482 points, Matt Gregoire in fourth with 477 points, and Doug Lynden in the Top Five with 467 points. Art Cioffi, Dan Germano, Luke DeJonge, Kayden Wicke and Joe Masullo round out the Top Ten.
The Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS) Championship Point Award Series is led by Jim Bernier with 470 points, followed by Haley Feher in second place with 431 points, Brian Baker in third place with 416 points, Bob Salerno in fourth with 415 points, and Kevin Sutliffe in the Top Five with 413 points. Joel Rivera, Josie Brooks, Mike Peters, Lee Burgess and Mike Puglia round out the Top Ten.
The Quick 32 Sportsman Series, the Pro Bike & Sled Series (PBSS will continue to compete on the Empire Dragway eighth-mile track surface and compete for their respective Championship Point Award Series on August 15 – 16 and September 12 – 13, 2025.
