XDA Real Street Excitement Builds with Addition of World’s Fastest Street Tire Harleys

XDA Real Street is one of the most diverse categories in all of racing.

The class showcases primarily late model street bikes, allows for various power-adders and invites riders of all different body weights by offering the heavier guys extra wheelbase.

The class is about to get even more intriguing with the inclusion of Gregg Dahl’s world’s fastest street tire Harley Davidson and other motorcycles of that ilk. Dahl’s popular, no-bar, nitrous Twin Cam Harley is something to behold with 172 cubic inches, a 74-inch wheelbase and an unmistakable sound.

The plan is to let AHDRA Extreme Outlaw / AMRA Outlaw Street bikes cross over into XDA Real Street using the AHDRA/AMRA rules.

With Dahl’s best pass at 7.57, and the Real Street class record held by David Stewart at 7.43 on a turbo Hayabusa, not much separates these two distinct motorcycles. Dahl says he believes his team has room for improvement and it gives the class yet another combination to ponder. It also opens the door to more potential entries, which is always beneficial to the overall health of a class.

“There has not been an import vs Harley-Davidson opportunity like this since the days of Hog Slayer. We are very excited about this,” Dahl said. “We are not coming out to try to win a championship or lobby for rules changes. We just simply want a chance to compete in a very exciting and interesting class.”

Dahl knows this class will be unlike anything he’s ever competed in before.

“I’m really pumped because this reminds me of Pro Mod (Car) in the early 90s where there were so many different types of combinations and so much interest from fans,” Dahl said. “It’s really cool.”

XDA’s Jason Miller shares Dahl’s enthusiasm and agrees the addition of these Harleys will add to the diversity and total bike count. Miller has made similar rule exceptions in his successful four-wheel World Cup race to allow diverse entries that fit within a category’s performance range.

“This is the most diverse heads-up class in all of motorcycle drag racing and the Outlaw Street Harleys will add right to that,” Miller said. “We’ve talked to the class about it and they know it’s coming.”

As he has done all along, Miller says he will keep a close watch on the performance of the different combinations and step in if necessary to maintain parity.

Another expected change is the turbo GSXR 1000 combination will gain an inch of wheelbase to match what defending class champion Rickey Gadson can run on his turbo Kawasaki ZX-10.
