The Mickey Thompson Tires MIROCK Superbike Series is pleased to announce that for the first time in MIROCK history our fans will get to witness 5-second, 240mph, nitro burning Top Fuel bikes! Larry “Spiderman” McBride will be taking on Dave Vantine in a side by side Top Fuel match race at three MIROCK events in 2014. These Top Fuel match races will take place at the 14th annual WPGC Bike Fest at MIR on July 25-27, the 45th annual Orient Express Motorcycle U.S. Nationals at Atco on September 5-7, and the 22nd annual Fast by Gast Fall Nationals at MIR on October 3-5.
MIROCK promoter Jason Miller had this to say, “I am beyond excited to finally have Larry “Spiderman” McBride and Dave Vantine with us at MIROCK! This really will be a treat for our MIROCK racers and fans to see firsthand the raw power of these insane machines.
We were able to bring Top Fuel to three MIROCK events in 2014 and the decision was quite simple.
The next Top Fuel Match race will be held at the historic 45th annual Orient Express Motorcycle U.S. Nationals at Atco Dragway on September 5-7, 2014. With the long history of Top Fuel at Atco Dragway under the AMA Dragbike banner, it was a natural decision to bring them back. Seeing Top Fuel bikes has been a long tradition for fans in the Jersey and Pennsylvania area and we are glad to nitro back! A special thanks goes out to Atco Dragway’s owner Len Capone for helping to make this happen, and we look forward to seeing Top Fuel light up the Jersey sky once again!
The last Top Fuel match race will take place at the 22nd annual Fast by Gast Fall Nationals at MIR on October 3-5, 2014. This event has been dubbed the quickest and fastest motorcycle drag race anywhere because of the cool fall conditions and MIR’s unparalleled track prep! This event also hosts the $10,000 to win Orient Express Pro Street Battle Royale with the biggest Pro Street field in history. With these unreal conditions, it was only natural to bring Top Fuel to this event to see if Larry or Dave can reset a new national Top Fuel record.”
Dave Vantine states, “I am very excited and honored to be alongside The Spiderman as the first pair of Top Fuel bikes to ever run at a MIROCK event. I have raced with MIROCK series on my Pro Mod for many years and I know it to be at first rate facilities and that the track preparation is top notch as well. This made the decision to ride a Top Fuel bike at MIROCK an easy one. At 1500 horsepower these bikes can only be run on the best tracks.
I’ve been drag racing motorcycles since 1987 and have had much success along the way but I am the new kid on the block in Top Fuel so I need as much seat time as I can get and this is the perfect opportunity for me. I have the privilege of having Larry McBride who has been riding these monsters for 36 years and is a 12 time Top Fuel champion as my riding coach so anytime we can be in the same place at the same time gives Larry the opportunity to critique my riding which is a big help.
I’m really looking forward to putting on a good show and tossing those spectacular Nitro flames into the night sky for the MIROCK fans.”
Larry “Spiderman” McBride stated, ““It’s going to be very cool. MIR is an awesome track and Jason Miller makes sure the prep is outstanding. Also, I could talk for days about all the memories I have from Atco Dragway. It has always been one of my favorite tracks and I’m excited to be going back.”
