Angie Smith Improves on Day No. 2

On Day 1 of qualifying for the 57th annual Mac Tools NHRA U.S. Nationals, Full Throttle Series Pro Stock Motorcycle rider Angie Smith laid down a lap of 7.140 seconds, putting her on the bubble at 12th. On Saturday, the North Carolina native ran the 7.023 pass she knew her Buell was capable of and finished the day solidly in eighth on the provisional charts.

“We had a really good 60 foot time,” she said after Saturday’s final round of qualifying. “We knew we had to run a good time today because of the rain we’re expecting tomorrow, but it was a good lap and we’re happy with it.”
